The Challenge

Jobs Cast had ambitious plans to build a multi-sector recruitment platform that could compete with the established job boards, but they needed the technology to match that ambition. They came to us with a clear vision: a fast, reliable job board with intelligent search, automated candidate matching, and a streamlined experience for both employers and job seekers.

The key challenges were building a search system that could handle thousands of concurrent listings across sectors ranging from IT and engineering to healthcare and finance, creating an automated matching engine that genuinely surfaced relevant candidates, and delivering a platform that could scale as the business grew.

Our Approach

We designed and built a bespoke recruitment platform using ASP.NET and C#, backed by SQL Server for transactional data and Elastic Search for fast, flexible candidate and vacancy searching. The architecture was deployed on Azure to give Jobs Cast the scalability and resilience they needed without the overhead of managing physical infrastructure.

Key Technical Decisions

• Elastic Search integration provided faceted, full-text search across job listings with sub-second response times, even as the catalogue grew into the thousands
• Role-based dashboards gave employers, candidates, and internal recruiters tailored views of the data most relevant to them
• Automated matching engine built in C# scored candidates against vacancy requirements, surfacing the strongest fits and reducing the time recruiters spent sifting through applications
• Azure hosting with automated failover ensured the platform maintained 99.9% uptime, critical for a service where downtime directly translates to lost placements

Candidate and Employer Experience

We put significant effort into the front-end experience. Candidates can set up detailed profiles, upload CVs, and receive email alerts when new roles match their preferences. Employers benefit from a streamlined posting workflow that gets vacancies live within minutes rather than hours, along with built-in applicant tracking to manage the hiring pipeline from first application through to placement.

The Outcome

The platform gave Jobs Cast the technology foundation they needed to grow rapidly. Recruiters reported spending considerably less time on administrative tasks and more time on relationship-building and placement work. Search accuracy proved to be a standout feature, with candidates and employers both citing the quality of matches as a key differentiator.

Platform reliability has been consistently strong since launch, with the 99.9% uptime target met quarter after quarter. The system comfortably handles peak loads during seasonal hiring surges, and the Elastic Search layer means that even complex multi-filter queries return results almost instantly.
